In 2021, a group of members within Mizzou's American Society of Mechanical Engineers chapter selected to compete in the AIAA Design, Build, Fly Competition. With little to no experience in aircraft design, the team struggled and never ended up with an operational aircraft. However, the group of mechanical engineering students decided that the competition, while difficult, was extremely worthwhile and chose to found a new organization specifically for this purpose. The Mizzou AeroTigers was then born in the 2022-2023 academic year. Now, Mizzou AeroTigers is a recognized student organization and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. This past year, we were recognized as a finalist in "Best New Student Organization" by the Organizational Resource Group. As we enter our second year of recognition, we strive to advance our competition success and the educational impact on both our members and the greater community.
